What are the best websites to buy fishing gear/tackle online? I’m looking for good selection, competitive prices, easy navigation, and (most importantly) great user experience. I know about Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops but don’t have any experience with them. I’m looking for anything from huge websites that sell everything fishing related to small websites that focus on a few products. Please help me out.

www.tackledirect.com is one of my favorites.

Want to know if The banjo minnow fishing lures on tv will work in Australian saltwater fishing evironments, particularly estuaries, and if so, what type of fish can I expect to catch. Anyone else from Australia had success with them in saltwater?

If you know how to use them, they are a GREAT BAIT. However they catch more smaller fish than bigger fish…. If the fish you are fishing for are going after bait fish then I would use them.. they imitate a dying bait fish very well, and I have some. I do not use them all the time, but they have their time and place. You have to see what type of bait fish are being fed on in the waters you re fishing, saltwater or freshwater. If you see the correct size and close enough color of the banjo minnow, then yes they will prob work.. if not then you might get lucky.. . The banjo minnow is just like any other lure, it will catch fish at the correct time for that lure… Do not count on just them.

Also, what areas of a lake or pond should i fish in the evening. Is fishing off a small dock good for bass?

Don’t over complicate things on small bodies of water.

I’d grab a half dozen 1/8oz, half dozen #2 or 3 hooks, a bag of 6" Red Shad worms, and a pair of plyers and keep them all in one of my pants pockets. You can fish all day like that.

Hopefully the pond will be away from wood, weeds, and anything other thing that prevents you from fishing a sizable portion of the lake.

Just spend a few hours and fish your way around the lake. Make a few throws into some grass, then around some logs, etc. Normally if it looks like a place a fish will be, there will be one there. If you catch a fish, throw it right back into the same spot and really work the area. It’s not uncommon to catch a half dozen bass right in the same spot.

Just go and "play around"
