Check out this link for a site which features Animated Fishing Knots- Its a clear and easy way to see exactly how each knot is tied- you can make the animation go faster or slower and stop it to view what is going on, at your own pace. The bright blue background and orange line makes it visible and easy to follow- Below is a screenshot.

Uses: The Trilene Knot is a strong and reliable knot to join monofilament line to hooks, swivels and lures. It resists slippage and failures.

Tying it: When trimming the tag end, leave about an eighth of an inch for security.

Advantages: The double wrap of line through the eye takes some of the strain and may be responsible for claims that this knot retains a high proprtion of ideal line strength. This is more likely when the thickness of the eye is greater than the line diameter.

Fishing Knot Library: Tips & Tutorials on How to Tie a Fishing Knot

A fishing knot is nothing more than a series of wraps and loops in a line that results in a strong connection when tightened. These directions refer to the end of the fishing line, which goes to the hook or lure, as the “tag end” and the long end of the line, which goes to the reel, as the “standing line.”
